FAQs
With so many retreats out there, what makes yours special?
At Ocean & Earth Retreats, Ed and Kath personally design and deliver every detail, so you’re guaranteed exceptional service and great value. We live and breathe our retreats and are with you every step of the way.
Our retreats balance yoga, ocean adventures and indulgent downtime to help you reset body, mind and spirit. Our retreats aren’t about intense yoga or catching huge waves – they’re for active women who enjoy moving their bodies, trying new things, having a laugh, and taking time out to truly unwind.
We host our retreats at a 5-star resort – an Australian owned sanctuary known for its design, professionalism and high standards of care. The comfort, luxury and safety of our venue set us apart, and ensure you’re truly cared for.
There’s a few of us keen - can we come as a group?
Absolutely! Groups are very welcome! Whether it’s a girls’ getaway, reunion, or birthday trip, we’ll help tailor the experience so you can enjoy it together. Just let us know how many of you there are and we’ll sort the rooms and details.
Is it ok to join the retreat on my own?
Of course! Many guests come solo and find it’s a wonderful way to connect, recharge and meet like-minded women. Whether you want your own space or prefer to share, we’ll support whatever feels right for you.
Do I need to be super fit?
No need to be super fit, but a general level of fitness is helpful. If you’re planning on surfing or snorkelling, you need to be a confident swimmer.
What’s the weather like?
Dry season runs from May – October, with warm days, balmy nights and perfect water temperatures. Typically, the average temperature ranges from 27°C to 31°C during the day.
What’s the boat trip like from Bali to Nusa Lembongan?
It’s a short, 30 – 40 minute trip via fast boat. We use a reputable and safe ferry company offering the only true port-to-port service, dropping you directly at the island’s main jetty, a short car transfer away from the resort. If you suffer from motion sickness, it is recommended you prepare yourself in case you feel unwell.
Should I bring much spending money?
Yes, we advise to bring some cash with you. The island has only a handful ATMs which are not always reliable. You can exchange major currencies for Indonesian Rupiah once you arrive. Credit cards are also now widely accepted on the island. While most essentials are covered, you may want to budget for market shopping, alcohol, personal treatments or extra spa treatments.
Do I need travel insurance?
Absolutely. All guests are required to organise their own travel insurance. Please ensure your coverage includes travel to Indonesia and water-based activities. Proof of insurance is mandatory for all our retreat participants.
Is alcohol available?
Yes. Alcohol is available at your own cost. The resort bar is fully stocked and happy to serve wine, beer, cocktails etc.
Is there internet access at the resort?
Yes. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available to all guests.
I’m new to yoga/I haven’t practised in a while - is that OK?
Totally fine! Ed tailors classes to suit all levels, and participation is always optional.
I’ve never meditated - what should I expect?
You’ll be gently guided through simple breathwork and meditation techniques to help calm your mind and settle your nervous system. It’s easy to follow, beginner-friendly and a beautiful way to unwind before bed.
I’ve never surfed before and am a bit nervous. Is it beginner - friendly?
Yes! Most of our guests are first-timers. You’ll have softboards, warm water, and kind, skilled local instructors (with Australian qualifications) to support you every step of the way.
Do I need to bring gear?
Nope. We’ve got yoga equipment, boards and snorkel gear sorted. You’re welcome to bring your own though if you’d prefer. We will also provide you with a comprehensive packing list once you have booked to help make getting ready easy.
Do I have to follow the itinerary in full?
Not at all. Join in as much or as little as you’d like – this is your time.
I’ve seen cheaper retreats - what’s the difference?
We don’t cut corners. Many retreats save on accommodation and service – we prioritise quality, care and beautiful details that truly matter.
What isn’t included in the Retreat Package?
You will need to organise your own flights and travel insurance, as well as paying for any beverages on retreat, and just dinner on the first night in Sanur. The rest is covered.
